Hat Trick Productions who are the producers of the Father Ted television series have very generously donated to us a rare and wonderful piece of memorabilia from the award winning show. This is your opportunity to own a piece of tv history.
The Aisling Project is delighted to be able to offer at auction the actual jacket worn by Father Ted Crilly’s arch-nemesis Father Dick Byrne (played by Maurice O’Donoghue) in the brilliant episode “A Song for Europe”. The jacket is a must-have for any serious Father Ted fan or indeed any dedicated follower of fashion – heads will be turned! Equally were the item to be framed, it would grace the wall of any quality establishment putting the signed replica jerseys around it in the ha’penny place.
The episode, written by Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews and directed by Declan Lowney, memorably pits the rivals against each other to represent Ireland at the 1996 Eurosong contest. Fr Dick Byrne performed the song “The Miracle is Mine” (written by Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy) in response to Ted and Dougal’s infamous “My Lovely Horse”. Fr Dick’s eye-catching sparkly purple jacket complements the song and performance perfectly.
The episode “A Song for Europe” was nominated recently by the writers Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews as one of the eight best ever episodes of the show and is a perennial favourite amongst fans.
